65 cm of snow forecast on our mountains over 3 days

The forecast predicted 65 cm of snow on Dachstein over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It is definitely snowing in Annaberg today! Because of this I changed the slideshow from summer to winter pictures. Have your thoughts turned to winter already?

Waldbad Lungotz

Waldbad Lungotz - an outdoor swimming area about ten minutes from our place.

Via Ferrata – Donnerkogel

This is a via Ferrata up the Donnerkogel, which is just behind our house. We cheated and got a ride up as high as the road would go (about 10 minutes) then hiked (about an hour and a half) to the start of the route. Another option would be to drive to Gosau and take the gondola up, so the →

Via Ferrata – Gosausee

There is a great via ferrata route at Gosausee, only a half hour from our house. It is rated B with some short sections of C and boasts a great cable-crossing. It was my first via ferrata so my heart was in my throat over the crossing but made it ok. Here are some pictures from the route.

Giro d’Italia Stage 13 – May 20th, 2011

Stage 13 of the 2011 Giro d'Italia climbs Grossglockner. Yesterday we drove over the pass and I made a video of the climb and terrain that the race will be going through. Amazing, amazing country and it was a great day. Below is a little preview of the sections of the climb.
